Policy PodCast Unheard Voices: The Other Side of the Immigration Debate

by Christina Houle, Senior Editor, Digital and Social Media

Immigration continues to be a highly debated topic in mainstream politics. The rhetoric, however, rarely reflects the lived experiences of immigrants themselves. Unheard Voices highlighted stories and experiences of immigrants and individuals directly affected by immigration (documented and undocumented) within and near our community.

Unheard Voices sought to bridge our policy discussions with the lived experiences of immigrants who are present in our everyday lives and in our classrooms. Unheard Voices featured presentations by journalist Danielle Mackey, HKS Professor Richard Parker and HKS students Norma Torres Mendoza and Jennifer Angarita.

The Latinx Caucus at HKS, HJHP, Asian American Policy Review, Asian Pacific American Caucus at HKS, the Human Rights PIC and the Progressive Caucus at HKS organized Unheard Voices. Christina Houle, Senior Editor for Digital and Social Media covered this event.
